Auto vs manual save
You control when versions are captured with the Auto checkpoint / Manual toggle in the Versions section of the side panel.
| Strategy | When a version is captured |
|---|---|
| Auto checkpoint | Automatically, as you work — so you always have recent restore points. |
| Manual | Only when you explicitly save (Cmd/Ctrl+S or Save) — giving you deliberate, named milestones. |
Auto checkpoint
Choose Auto checkpoint when you want a safety net without thinking about it. EntityFlow records versions for you as you edit, so there's always a recent point to roll back to if something goes wrong.
Manual
Choose Manual when you prefer a clean, curated history. A version is captured only when you press Cmd/Ctrl+S (or click Save), so each entry in the list is a milestone you chose on purpose — ideal for naming and comparing.
Your work is always persisted, regardless of the strategy. The toggle only controls when versions are captured — it never affects whether your edits are saved.
Use Auto checkpoint during exploratory work and switch to Manual when you want a tidy set of named versions to compare and restore later.
