Sync with a database
Once you've connected to a database and remembered the connection, EntityFlow can keep your diagram and the live schema in step. Open File → Sync with database… to compare the two.
Pull — bring database changes in
Pull applies changes from the live schema into your diagram: new tables, dropped columns, changed types, and so on. EntityFlow shows the schema diff so you can see exactly what changed, plus a migration script for reference.
Push — generate a migration out
Push compares the other direction and generates a migration script that would update the database to match your diagram.
:::warning Review only — EntityFlow never runs it The push migration is for you to review and run yourself with your own tools. EntityFlow does not execute migrations against your database. :::
The migration script is generated per dialect, so the DDL matches your target engine's syntax and conventions.
Already up to date
If there's nothing to reconcile, a status message tells you the diagram and the schema already match — no diff, no script needed.
| Direction | What it does | Side effect on DB |
|---|---|---|
| Pull | Apply live schema changes into the diagram | None (read-only) |
| Push | Generate a migration to match the database to the diagram | None — you run it |
Pull periodically to keep documentation honest, and use Push to draft the migration after you've designed a change on the canvas.
