Export JSON
EntityFlow's JSON format captures the diagram — not just the database. Use File → Export JSON to download a complete, lossless snapshot of everything on the canvas.
What it includes
| Captured | Notes |
|---|---|
| Tables & fields | Names, types, constraints |
| Relationships | Foreign keys and cardinality |
| Colours | Per-table palette and theming |
| Positions | Exact node layout |
| Container groups | Group boxes and membership |
| Notes | Sticky notes and text |
| Custom types | Enums and reusable types |
Because nothing is dropped, re-importing the file reproduces the diagram exactly. Load it any time with Import JSON.
Why export JSON
- Backups — keep restorable snapshots of your work.
- Sharing — send a teammate a starter schema, layout and all.
- Versioning — commit the file to track diagram history.
:::note Diagram, not database SQL and DBML exports describe the database so another system can build it. JSON describes the diagram so EntityFlow can rebuild it pixel-perfect — including layout and grouping that DDL formats can't represent. :::
